Granite - Natural Stone has won recognition in the construction and architecture. This natural stone is always used where needed effective compositions and architectural ensembles, and many monuments made of granite, have survived to this day, almost without losing its original shape. Structure and color of granite Granite is a igneous rocks grain structure, which gave its name to the stone: in Italian, granum meaning "grain". About 60% of rock is feldspar - orthoclase and plagioclase, 20-30% are quartz, and everything else - biotite, muscovite, and sometimes hornblende. Different types of granite - syenite, diorite, gabbro, labradorite, monocytes, teshenity, granite, and others - were formed at considerable depth by the eruption of magma and its falling into the voids of the crust. The result of this slow cooling under pressure strata of the earth and began to breed, with a pronounced crystalline structure. Largest grain structure of granite is subdivided into fine-grained (up to 2 mm), medium (2 to 5 mm) and coarse (> 5 mm). Grain size directly affect the characteristics of stone: the smaller the grain, the higher strength and weathering rocks. Color Breed - pink, red, gray, black - depends on the color of the feldspar, and brilliant sparks that give granite a special attraction, are nothing more than patches of mica. Characteristics of Granite Granite - very dense and heavy: its bulk density is 2,6-2,7 t / m 3, while the total pore volume does not exceed 1,5% of the total. Low water absorption determines the weathering of this stone: even the harsh climatic conditions are not able to harm its products. High compressive strength - from 1400 to 2500 kgf/cm2 provides durability of granite. As experience shows, the product of fine-grained varieties of this stone for centuries able to maintain its original appearance, and the first signs of disintegration are found only in 500 years. An important characteristic that allows use of granite for construction, decoration and creation of architectural structures is the ease of processing, including polishing, which allows to create almost mirrored surfaces, so spectacular to look at and pleasant to the touch. Products from a granite now manufactured a variety of products from Granite: tiles for exterior and interior cladding, counter tops, window sills, decorative elements of interior decoration and landscape design. According to statistics, about half of all monuments and headstones, on the ground are made from this very stone rocks. Superb mechanical properties, attractive appearance, variety of colors and shades allow you to use granite for various purposes, including for the device tracks and decorating the city parks and gardens. Pros and cons of Granite - is a stone that allows you to create a strong and durable products of various colors and shades, has many unique patterns and gives the opportunity to use a variety of textures - from the crude cleaved to a mirror polish. From it you can make statues, pedestals and columns of large size, which is very important in decorative architecture. High resistance to mechanical abrasion and natural influences for long service life of products from granite and low porosity helps to care for them easy and inexpensive. Compliance with all rules of care for long retains the original appearance of products of this natural stone and prolongs its life. The disadvantages of granite can be attributed only labor-intensive extraction and processing, which significantly increases the cost of the products themselves.
